Your files never leave your device

Every tool on Slimvid runs inside your browser using its media APIs. Unsupported browsers or formats stop with an explanation instead of downloading a fallback engine. When you drop a video, it is read from your disk into browser memory, processed there, and offered as a download. No video, audio, thumbnail or file name is transmitted to us or to any third party.

What we do collect

Videos, audio, thumbnails and file names are never sent. To tune devices and find bugs, the site sends small usage events to /api/telemetry while you use a tool. An event names the tool and what happened (file added, job started, finished, failed, retried, cancelled or downloaded) and can include file size, duration, resolution, frame rate, video and audio codec, output size, settings such as target size or bitrate, the engine, whether the hardware encoder ran, how long the job took and an error category. Each event also carries the browser user-agent string, platform, CPU core count, device memory, touch support, browser and page language, and a random id stored in this browser. Events are stored without your IP address. Waitlist forms store the email you type.

Statistics services

Cloudflare Web Analytics measures page views, visits, referrers and page performance without cookies. It does not collect file names, file contents or URL query parameters. The automatic statistics switch below also controls page analytics; Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control are respected. Anonymous tool events are stored with Cloudflare. Session replay uses Microsoft Clarity as described below.

Job telemetry

Automatic tool statistics can be turned off here or in the footer, without an account. This also stops session replay and preserves your existing opt-out preference. Turning it off stops future automatic events; it does not delete previous records. Feedback and waitlist forms that you choose to submit still send their technical details and any email you enter.

Cookieless session replay

We use Microsoft Clarity in cookieless mode to understand page interactions and usability problems. It receives masked page interactions, page URLs, browser/device information and named tool events. Analytics and advertising storage are always denied; we do not use Clarity cookies or send custom account identifiers, file contents or file names. Text and media are masked. Each page visit is treated separately, so cross-page journeys and returning-visitor statistics are limited. Recordings are generally retained for 30 days. You can turn replay off here or in the footer; only that preference is stored locally. This stops future recording, not records already collected. Global Privacy Control, Do Not Track and our telemetry opt-out also disable replay.

Accounts

Slimvid has no accounts or sign-in. All tools work without registration. We only receive your email if you choose to submit a waitlist form. Videos stay in your browser.

Local storage

Your anonymous id, telemetry opt-out flag and session replay choice live in local storage. No fallback media engine is downloaded. You can clear site data from your browser settings.
