A practical file for the timeline

H.264 MP4 is the file phones and browsers actually play. MOV from an iPhone often fails until it is converted. This preset compresses and produces MP4 together.

50MB is not stated here as X’s official maximum. It is a size that usually finishes on a mobile connection. If your account allows a longer or larger post, raise the target.

How long can a video on X be?
It depends on the account, and we did not lock a single official duration into this page. Trim to the length the composer accepts, then compress.
What format should I upload?
H.264 MP4. That is what this page produces. iPhone MOV files often need this conversion before they post.
Is a bigger file better quality?
Not once X recompresses it for the timeline. A clean 1080p file around this preset usually posts more reliably than a huge original.
