Why Discord needs a 10MB file

Free Discord rejects anything over 10MB. Guessing a bitrate in another app usually overshoots, then you compress again.

Stay under the cap and Discord keeps the file as an attachment instead of transcoding it as an embedded video, so faces and text stay closer to what you exported.

This page locks the 10MB target. Encoding still runs on your device — the clip never goes to our servers.
